Artistic biography

Petr Tarasov

Young pianist. Performer. Composer of his own music.

Пётр Тарасов за роялем

Petr Tarasov is a young pianist from Samara and a student of the Samara Children’s Central Music School in the class of Nadezhda Styazhkova. His musical path began in early childhood, and since 2022 he has continued his studies at the school, focusing on piano and composition.

His musical development is marked by concentration, thoughtfulness, and a desire for independent artistic expression. Petr does not limit himself to accurate performance of the score: he searches for image, sound, mood, and the inner drama of each work.

Teachers note his deep immersion in the musical material, attention to texture, interest in tone colours, and love of reading, listening, improvising, and composing.

Focus

He not only performs, but also searches for form, colour, tension, and breath within music.

Petr studies piano while also developing a composer’s way of thinking. For him, clarity, rhythm, and technique matter alongside an understanding of how a work is built from within: how a phrase is born, how texture moves, and where the dramatic centre lies.

This approach helps him connect performing discipline with imagination. Score reading, aural thinking, playing by ear, improvisation, and composition naturally coexist in his work with music.

An important part of Petr’s experience is performing with orchestras. He has played piano concertos with chamber and symphony orchestras, appeared in gala concerts, and performed on major concert stages.

Among them are Rachmaninoff Hall of the Moscow State Conservatory and the Grand Hall of the Murmansk Regional Philharmonic. This experience helps him perceive music not only as a solo statement, but also as a live dialogue with an ensemble, conductor, and audience.

Composition and Creative Projects

Music as a space where one can not only perform, but also create.

Composition is a separate direction in Petr’s artistic path. He improvises, plays by ear, and writes his own music. In 2025, Petr participated in a theatre production by the Samara studio “Yunost” as pianist and composer, writing music for a performance based on Janusz Korczak’s work “When I Am Little Again”.

Petr also participates in classical music video projects and performs in chamber spaces, galleries, and cultural events. His musical biography already brings together the academic stage, competitions, ensemble practice, orchestra work, composition, and modern video recording formats.

Petr has attended masterclasses with renowned teachers and musicians connected with the Moscow State Conservatory and the academic music school tradition. This experience helps him understand style, form, and sound culture more deeply.

Petr’s path is only beginning. But the most important things can already be heard in his playing: attention to meaning, love of sound, and a desire to speak with music in his own voice.
